The residential food waste collection pilot project benefits from the support and partnership of local government, the private sector, and a federal funding agency.
The project is coordinated by the Regional District of Nanaimo in cooperation with the City of Nanaimo, the Town of Qualicum Beach, Waste Services Inc. and International Composting Corporation. The Federation of Canadian Municipalities' Green Municipal Fund has contributed up to half the cost of the project's expenses with the RDN providing matching funds.
